Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about trading on the exchange

Is listing credits free?

Yes! Listing your carbon credits or CCTS certificates on the India Carbon Market exchange is completely free of charge. We collect a 3% platform commission only upon successful transaction settlement.

How are credits verified?

Sellers upload official documentation (BEE CCTS certificates, UNFCCC CDM sheets, Verra VCS slips, Gold Standard reports, or TCEQ records). Approved files display a "Verified" badge. We advise all buyers to perform independent due diligence prior to settling.

What types of credits can I trade?

You can trade compliance CCTS certificates issued by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, international CERs validated by the UN, state-level air pollutant ERCs, and voluntary offsets under standards like Verra and Gold Standard.

How does payment work?

Currently, buyers and sellers settle payments directly via bank wire transfers. India Carbon Market facilitates the introduction, evidence check, and transaction logging. Escrow and instant automated settlement are coming in Q4 2026.

What is the 3% transaction fee?

When both sides report transaction completion, a total 3% commission is due. We collect 1.5% from the seller and 1.5% from the buyer, ensuring aligned incentives and maximum marketplace liquidity.

Is my data secure?

All data, utility bill uploads, and certificates are hosted on secure, compliant cloud databases located inside India (Mumbai region). Data residency complies fully with BEE and national regulations.
